What is Project: Maple Lake
The easy answer to this is the seeking of the truth for exactly where our lot lines end when it comes to not only the waterfront, but also for the road allowances, forced roads and truly all municipally owned property.

Trespass and Conversion.
After being warned in writing 3x, the township still wanted to play games. The description of our Crown Land Patent as 'irrelevant' was an eyeopener for me.
To have Bylaw officers trespass on private property to remove HCLA signs 3x was enough. Signs were placed with the owner's permission...cease and desist letters were issued...the township continued to trespass and remove HCLA signage leaving us no other option other than to file an action in Small Claims Court.
The township has filed their defense - now we wait for the settlement conference prior to moving on to a trial. As our members have all heard - our Crown Land Patent of 1863 has no reservation for a Shore Road Allowance and St. Peter's Road lays outside any surveyed road allowance of 1860.

In 1863, George Masson purchased Lot 21 in Concessions 3 & 4...that Crown Land Patent contained no reservation for a Shore Road Allowance.
In 2025, the Township of Algonquin Highlands issued an engineering report stating that construction was intended along North Shore Road from St. Peter's Road to Generation Trail.
It is vital to mention that after being contacted, JEWELL ENGINEERING President, Matt McDonald very clearly stated that they would NOT return to site until the matter is resolved.
This Small Claims Court action is being brought by a number of HCLA members using information gathered by the HCLA executive. This action is available to a number of additional HCLA members who - due to not being full time residents - we are still awaiting responses from.
