Kythe Baldwin - I'm extremely proud of the work we've been able to accomplish in the last year through the HCLA. As the President of the HCLA, I look forward to representing our members in the most professional way possible...but that doesn't mean I will back down while fighting for YOUR private property rights. 2025 is going to be an AWESOME year!!
Paul Newby -
I am extremely proud of our membership's courage and activism. The generosity and support shown through our fundraisers and the fellowship developed from our Pig Roasts and Fish Fry are some great memories of 2024. The HCLA Float in the rainy Christmas Parade for Haliburton was a fun time. 2025 is the year we will see great changes in this young chapter. I am looking forward to fighting for all of you and I am confident we will have a prosperous year.
Carolyn Rowe -
I joined HCLA in order to contribute what I can to fight for and preserve our piece of heaven. Now is the time for us to all stand together and show strength and unity. Now is the time to start saying "NO". I look forward to 2025 and all the good we can accomplish together.
Our team is made up of dedicated volunteers and staff who are passionate about making a difference. Keeping the lines of communication open with members, education, informing members of upcoming meetings and events are some of the duties of the Membership Director

The Haliburton County Landowners Association is a local chapter of the OLA serving the area of Haliburton County.
As the OLA, we are also a 100% volunteer organization. We are not afraid to step out of the shadows and take the lead when it comes to representing private property owners and educating them about their rights. In the coming months we will find out how the Municipality will react to the opposition we have put forth to their License of Occupation. We've proven beyond a doubt that North Shore Road is a forced road and not an Original Shore Road Allowance as they claim...the same situation is afoot with St. Peter's Road...and a number of other roads throughout Haliburton County. Time will tell....
What is PROJECT: Maple Lake?
Quite simply, the Township of Algonquin Highlands has engaged in an attack on the legality of our Crown Land Patents. They are attempting to re-position the Original Shore Road Allowances from where they were first placed in 1860. It is historical fact that many of the lakes in the Haliburton Highlands have been flooded due to logging in the late 1800's and finally the Trent Severn Waterway up to 1934. The challenges that are ahead of us are the first of their kind in Ontario. We are secure in our position that our Crown Land Patents are intact and have legitimate, enforceable powers. They are contracts between the original private property owners and the Crown - both British and Canadian depending on the date they were created.
These contracts are what hold our private property rights enshrined within them and need to be defended with the utmost tenacity.
What are they? How important are they to my property? Do they still exist and are they still enforceable?
Many people don't know what they are! A Crown Land Patent (CLP) is the very first document when it comes to your property's root of title. It spells out limitations and reservations to your property as well as giving you protections and guidelines. Every property in Ontario has a CLP attached to it...if you want to see what yours contains, simply go to our downloads section and order yours today!!
